Victorian Ecru Net Lace Blue Silk Chenille Rosette Trim Bed Cap Bonnet & Sleeve Cuffs
This antique Victorian era ecru net lace blue silk chenille rosette trim bed cap bonnet and sleeve cuffs date from 1900. It is made of a pale blue silk fabric covered with layers of sheer ecru cream color embroidered net lace fabrics, a box pleat bottom edging and gathered net rosette trimmings accented with pale blue silk chenille fringe. This beautiful bonnet bed cap was handmade from a bodice blouse using a variety of the lace pieces and trims patchworked together to create a hat, with remnants of the stays, boning lining and hook eye closures remaining inside. The cap measures 24 inches inside circumference. Included are a pair of pale blue tissue silk pleated sleeve cuffs with gathering, and scalloped lace ruffle trim, each measuring 9 inches long. The lot is in good as-is condition with some fraying along the trim edging on the bonnet, fraying on the pleated silk sleeve cuffs and both pieces have some discoloration, with an overall dusty dirty appearance (see closeups). This is truly a wonderful piece of upcycled handmade millinery art!
