The 1957 Silver Certificate was the last series of Silver Certificates issued by the United States government to be backed by actual silver. Silver Certificates also known as Blue Seals and Blue Seal Notes are still legal tender but since 1968 they have been redeemable only in Federal Reserve Notes and may no longer be exchanged for silver. A 1957 Silver Certificate is housed in a protective wallet for your enjoyment. The 1957 Silver Certificate series includes 1957, 1957a and 1957b. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing began producing currency on high-speed rotary presses that printed notes via the dry intaglio process. The first notes printed by this process were the 1957 Silver Certificates Series. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
