Description
1870 Standard Silver Half Dime, Proof 65 Red and Brown . Struck in Copper with a Reeded EdgeJudd-811, Pollock-899
R.7, NGC PF 65 RB .
Seated Liberty faces left while supporting a shield with a scroll inscribed with LIBERTY on her right side and holding an olive branch in her left hand. A cap atop a pole looms in the background. UNITED STATES / OF AMERICA on the periphery with the date, 1870. The reverse design features the denomination, 5 CENTS, enclosed within a wreath of cotton and corn tied with a bow at the bottom. The legend STANDARD--in smaller letters--is at the upper periphery. Flashy red color. Two carbon flecks are present on the obverse. The strike is bold, and the surfaces are well-preserved.
